Sofia Rotaru's small homeland organizes a mini-festival of New Year's customs on the square near the Speranza bar almost every year on January the 8th. Malankars in high hats and costumes, decorated with dozens of rows of necklaces are the protagonists of the action. Local people call them "Turks". They perform a long dance, and women and girls throw them money in a hat or give them sweets. In recent years, the "Turks" from Marshyntsi, these boys and young men in strange military clothes, are members of the famous local dance ensemble "Ţărăncuţă". "Turks" are frequent guests of district and regional festivals of winter customs.
